Cleaner Position Summary

The Department of Tourism seeks to appoint two Cleaners who will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in office spaces, public areas, and facilities at the Pretoria centre. This role is essential for providing a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for staff and visitors alike.

  • Salary: R138,486 per annum (Level 02), excluding benefits
  • Location: Pretoria, Gauteng
  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
  • Working Hours: Standard office hours with possible rotational shifts as needed

Minimum Requirements

  • ABET Level 4 or Grade 12 certificate.
  • Understanding of standard cleaning procedures and health & safety regulations.
  • Basic communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with team members and supervisors.
  • Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial services is an advantage but not compulsory.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace.
  • Physically fit and able to perform tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

As a Cleaner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Dusting and polishing office furniture.
  • Sweeping and mopping tile floors in offices and public areas.
  • Vacuuming carpets and cleaning glass doors.
  • Emptying, washing dustbins, and replacing bin liners.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in toilets including washing and disinfecting toilet bowls, urinals, and seats.
  • Refilling hand wash liquid soap, toilet paper, and hand towels.
  • Cleaning mirrors, wall tiles, boardrooms, reception areas, entrances, stairs, corridors, lifts, and lift lobbies.
  • Cleaning kitchen appliances such as microwaves and fridges.
  • Placing wet floor signs as needed to ensure safety.
  • Reporting any broken cleaning equipment to maintenance.
  • Relieving cleaning duties on other floors as required.
