Role Overview
We are seeking a professional, reliable, and customer-focused Receptionist (Security Services) to manage the reception area of our Pretoria office. This frontline position plays a critical role in ensuring the security and smooth flow of visitors, while upholding the Department’s high standards of service and security.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric / Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in reception, customer service, or related roles.
- Solid understanding and ability to promote Batho Pele principles ensuring excellent public service delivery.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with visitors, officials, and team members effectively.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Conflict management and problem-solving skills to handle challenging visitor situations calmly and professionally.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- A valid driver’s licence is mandatory.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As Receptionist (Security Services), you will be responsible for:
- Greet, identify, and professionally assist visitors entering the Department.
- Verify visitor identification and issue visitor cards in compliance with security protocols.
- Maintain accurate visitor logs and related documentation, ensuring confidentiality and data security.
- Monitor and ensure that all security equipment in the reception area is operational; promptly report any malfunctions.
- Record incoming and outgoing mail, facilitating efficient distribution.
- Compile and analyse visitor statistics for management reporting.
- Screen visitors to ensure security standards are upheld before referral to relevant officials.
- Manage telephonic enquiries and direct calls efficiently.
- Coordinate with security personnel and other departments to maintain a safe and welcoming reception area.
- Assist in emergency response protocols when required.
