Key Responsibilities

As a Senior State Accountant, your duties will include:

• Authorizing payments and journals on BAS and LOGIS
• Administering departmental revenue and authorizing receipts
• Managing creditors and grants transfers reconciliation
• Clearing and preparing reports on suspense accounts
• Supporting financial management processes to strengthen service delivery

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for the Senior State Accountant vacancy 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Qualification: National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Finance (NQF 6/7) or equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA
• Experience: 2–3 years’ proven finance experience
• Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, LOGIS, BAS, and Safety-web

Competencies Required

• Generic Competencies: Quality of work, initiative, interpersonal relations, planning and execution, reliability, communication, teamwork
• Technical Competencies:
  • Public sector financial budgeting processes
  • Public finance principles, cost accounting, and fiscal policy
  • Government accounting practices and procedures
  • Financial analysis to support service delivery
  • Transversal systems (BAS, LOGIS, Safety Web)
• Added Advantage: Supervisory/management experience
