About the Role (USHER MESSENGER)
As an Usher Messenger, you will play a vital support role in the daily operations of the court. Your duties include assisting Judges and courtroom staff, maintaining courtrooms and records, and ensuring the smooth running of court sessions. This role provides hands-on exposure to the judicial environment and the opportunity to contribute directly to the administration of justice.
Requirements
- Grade 10/ABET (NQF Level 2)
- No prior experience required; however, one (1) year of exposure to a court environment is an added advantage
- Valid driver’s license
- Skills and Competencies:
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and court procedures
- Planning, organizing, and time management skills
- Client orientation and customer focus
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Confidence and ability to work under pressure
- Flexibility and adaptability in performing various tasks
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Escort Judges safely to courtrooms and other official functions
- Provide administrative support to Judges and courtroom staff
- Maintain courtrooms, courtroom records, and ensure the office environment is organized and functional
- Facilitate the smooth running of courtrooms, including handling the distribution and collection of files, post, and official documents
- Photocopy and circulate court rolls according to distribution lists
- Perform general messenger duties and assist in administrative tasks as needed
- Ensure presence in court sessions and support the judicial process efficiently
