About the Role(Maintenance Investigator)

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development (DOJ&CD) is looking for a skilled and motivated Maintenance Investigator to join its team at the Kwa-Mhlanga Magistrate Court. This position is vital to ensuring the effective enforcement of maintenance orders, which directly impacts the well-being of children and families in South Africa.

In this role, you will be responsible for locating respondents, serving legal documents, conducting investigations, and assisting the court to ensure compliance with the Maintenance Act.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this Maintenance Investigator position, you must have:

  • Grade 12 certificate or equivalent qualification

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for investigations
  • Computer literacy (MS Office)

  • Conduct tracing and verification to locate respondents and witnesses
  • Testify in court under oath, providing accurate and objective evidence
  • Gather and compile investigation reports for submission to the court
  • Provide administrative support to the Maintenance Office, including document management and case tracking
  • Engage with community members, court officials, and legal representatives to facilitate case progress
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with all relevant laws and policies
