Minimum Requirements for Artisan Foreman Grade A Mechanical
- Trade Test Certificate in Diesel or Electromechanical
- At least 5 years’ experience as an Artisan
- Valid Driver’s Licence (C1)
- Strong technical knowledge, including:
- Automotive mechanical and electrical components
- Power machines (e.g., motors)
- Hydraulic systems and related equipment
- Mechanical and electrical analogues
- Familiarity with:
- Public Service Regulations & relevant legislation
- Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Legal compliance requirements
- Skills: Computer literacy, communication, planning, organisation, creativity, conflict management, and problem-solving abilities
Key Duties & Responsibilities
As an Artisan Foreman Grade A Mechanical, your primary role will be to oversee mechanical operations, ensure equipment readiness, and manage resources effectively. Duties include:
- Workshop Supervision
- Monitor and supervise the maintenance, repair, and servicing of state fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, workshop protocols, and legal requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections to assess equipment condition and performance.
- Maintenance & Service Management
- Plan, schedule, and oversee routine and emergency maintenance.
- Ensure optimal functioning of mechanical and electrical components.
- Manage fault diagnostics, repairs, and performance testing.
- Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate service and repair records.
- Compile technical reports and update asset management systems.
- Monitor compliance with SLAs and procurement processes.
- Team Leadership
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior artisans and technicians.
- Allocate tasks, monitor progress, and assess performance.
- Technical Development
- Keep abreast of industry developments, new technologies, and best practices.
- Recommend improvements for workshop operations and equipment efficiency.
