Food Services Aid Job Summary
Prince Albert Hospital is seeking a dedicated and motivated Food Services Aid to join its Food Service Unit. This role ensures patients receive nutritious, safe, and hygienically prepared meals, contributing to overall patient care and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve normal and special diet meals according to prescribed hospital menus.
- Assist in the receiving, storage, and rotation of perishables and groceries.
- Maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe kitchen environment in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety and infection control standards.
- Monitor and maintain kitchen appliances, equipment, and utensils.
- Support the informal training of new staff members in food service operations.
- Assist in meal planning, portion control, and weighing of ingredients using electronic kitchen scales.
- Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure meals meet patients’ dietary needs.
- Report any shortages, damages, or operational issues to supervisors.
Requirements for Food Services Aid
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Previous experience preparing patient meals in a healthcare environment is preferred.
- Physically fit to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and overtime.
- Strong communication skills, self-discipline, motivation, and sober habits.
- Ability to follow recipes and nutritional guidelines accurately.
- Knowledge of basic kitchen hygiene, cleaning practices, and equipment maintenance.
